I’m not entirely sure what I was thinking here. I’ve never owned a crop-style jacket, pink is not my colour yet this bonded sherpa fabric was calling my name, begging to be a pink bomber jacket.
The first thing my husband said when I showed him was, “Did you mean to cut it so short?”
Yes. That’s what I was going for… also what I now regret. Nonetheless, I now own a cute pink bomber jacket that I will probably never wear.
But - I did get to practice a few techniques I rarely get to use. I was going to insert buttons, but I opted to half-line the jacket, which means trying to stitch through two layers of bonded fabric, lots of frustration and tons of fabric and thread jams.
Nope, not today. I don't have time for that. So I reached for my zipper stash and opted for an open-ended zipper. Wow. That was easier than I thought! I think I’ll be adding open-ended zippers to my go-to sewing hacks! Especially for toddler wear. Toddler mammas know what a struggle getting dressed in the mornings can be.
To be honest, I saw a woman wearing a puffy bomber jacket with tights and sunglasses this weekend, and it just looked so cool, but I’m not sure I can pull it off. I’ll give it a spin this weekend, who knows? Maybe I’m a pink-bomber-jacket kind of girl after all!
